Spring cleaning...

It's that time of year. Spring is a great season, one that renews our focus on the important things in life. With that in mind, this blog is taking a turn towards a more focused approach--cataloging the many pleasures of rye whiskey, offering up the best of the cocktail renaissance, and examining the intersection of American history and alcohol. Over the next few days you'll see some changes around here. Talk of politics will go away, while more resources for rye drinkers emerge.

Consider them patriotic improvements.

Aww man, I like the historical perspective your political posts have..

Don't worry...it will be hard for me to keep my mouth shut on politics.

Yeah, don't abandon the political. I liked the structure of your earlier posts where politics (and your commentary on it) was informed by rye-drinking patriots, both historic and contemporary.

Or, just give us a good drink to argue over.

PLEASE, GOD PLEASE! I NEED THE RYE DRINKER TO RESURFACE AND SAVE ME FROM THE HORRORS OF REAL LIFE AND REMIND ME (ALL OF US) THAT GOOD ALCOHOL IS A LEGITIMATE ALTERNATIVE TO REALITY AND TO THE MUNDANE THAT PASSES ITSELF OFF AS IDEAS IN A WORLD WHERE ZEROS AND ONES REPLACE PAPER AND FOUNTAIN PENS, HONEST INSTRUMENTS THAT ONCE STAINED THE FINGERS OF PATRIOTS, THAT ONCE STAINED MY FINGERS. BREATHE MAN, BREATHE. HE'S GOING TO REAPPEAR, LIKE THE WIZARD OF OZ, BEHIND THAT CURTAIN, AND FLASH HIS LIGHTENING AND THUNDER, AND REMIND US THAT THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME, UNLESS YOU'RE HOMELESS, AND THEN THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE THE BOTTOM OF A RYE BOTTLE AS LONG AS THERE'S STILL SOMETHING IN IT TO SPLASH DOWN ON. PLEASE, PLEASE, I'M DYING OUT HERE IN ZION WAITING FOR A PROPHET, A FALSE PROPHET, ANY PROFIT, PRAYING LIKE I'M IN GETHSEMANE, USING ZEROS AND ONES TO REACH THE DIVINE, BEGGING FOR INTERVENTION, BUT DOUBTING THE DIVINE'S ABILITY TO READ ZEROS AND ONES ANY MORE, AND WONDERING WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME? WHAT A WORLD, WHAT A WORLD... BEAUTIFUL WICKEDNESS... MELTING, MELTING, AAAAHHHHHH!
